Black Cat Appreciation Day

Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day! Celebrated on August 17th, this is a special day to recognize and celebrate the beauty, mystery, and charm of little meowing voids. In the past, black cats were said to bring bad luck, but the myth is turning around! This day encourages people to look beyond superstition and adopt these stunning felines, honoring them as the beautiful creatures and family members they are. It’s a purr-fect opportunity to spread awareness and give black cats the spotlight they’ve always deserved!

What makes Black Cats such awesome Companions?

Loyalty

These little house panthers are super loyal and affectionate, which is awesome—unless you’re trying to go to the bathroom alone. They often form strong bonds with their humans, and don’t mind a warm lap.

Charming and mysterious

Have you ever looked into a dark corner and saw only eyes peering out at you? Only to flip on the light and see the cutest, fluffiest little black cat who then comes up and purrs at your legs? If not, then you haven’t lived, my friend. The charisma of black cats is hard to resist. They walk with a quiet confidence, like they know they’re the coolest creature in the room, and they’ll make you feel cool, too.

Your own personal shadow

Living with a black cat is like having a little pocket of darkness that follows you around the house, silently claiming every shadowed corner as their own. These "voids" are experts at blending into the background, only revealing themselves when they decide it’s time for dinner or attention.

There’s something magical about sharing a home with a black cat, as if you’re a Strega Nona with your little familiar.

They make for really fun photography sessions

To help celebrate cats and their people, Crimson Cat Studios is offering a unique opportunity to honor and preserve the bond you share with your cats. From now until October 1, 2024, four cat-people and their families will be selected to participate. If chosen, you’ll receive a $350 studio credit, covering the session fee and leaving a $200 balance for purchasing beautiful artwork for your home or office. A portion of the proceeds from your artwork purchase will be donated to Cat Care Society in Lakewood.
